Elle, you're probably right about the U that we American's drop from words such as colour. And why did we drop the U when we left in such letters as the L in would, could, should, the k in knife and's perplexing.

I've never been a Seinfeld fan but I'd heard that somewhere before, about the Superman.

LOL! Morgan, that's a really good question. Probably just walking around with them in their mouths, not paying attention to what they're doing, swallow and there you go.

There's you're lesson for how to choke on a toothpick...not that I've ever done so but it could happen that way...if you're a total dunce ;o)
