Head over heels.....and not in love

Yesterday my daughter had a birthday party to attend so I delivered her to the bowling alley right on time. I was 'ordered' to return for her by 3:45 so I went home and got a few things done around the house until it was time to go. A few minutes before 3:45 my husband asked if he could accompany me and we could go in his Jeep. "Sure." I said, glad for the chance to be a passenger and have the wind blowing through my hair on such a beautiful day.

So, I climb up into the Jeep- this monster vehicle that requires a step for me to get into- and ride happily to the bowling alley, warmed by the sun, cooled by the breeze and enjoying my dear husband's company for a few minutes without kids.

We pull into the parking lot and hubby asks, "Do you want me to go in and get her?"

"Nah, I'll do it." I say, thinking that it'll be nice to see a few of my 'mom' friends for a minute while Cera gathers up her things. I throw one leg over the side of the Jeep and leap to the ground like I always do...but this time the unthinkable happens.

My shoe got caught on the door frame as I hurtled toward the ground and I was unable to stop myself from crashing to the pavement. I caught myself with my already troublesome left arm and felt something give way in my shoulder. I'm now scraped up and scabbed on the palms of both hands and up my left arm. My left thigh is quite bruised and I have to see a doctor this afternoon about my shoulder because I can no longer move my left arm away from my body without crying.

I can only imagine what I must have looked like falling from that Jeep. Had someone been video taping it, I might have won the grand prize on America's Funniest Home Videos.

The lesson in all of this...When your better half offers to climb down from Mount Everest to pick up the children from a party, let him do it!

Well, the doc says there's too much inflamation to tell right now what's wrong. Hopefull it's just some swelling, like a sprain, and it'll heal on it's own. Unfortunately, the doc thinks it might be a torn rotor cuff that could require surgery to repair. I'm praying we can avoid that.

Thanks for the good wishes and hugs, those are always wonderful :o)

Oh my gosh! I hope you're okay! And I hope you don't end up needing surgery. That would suck!

Poor you! Hope he gave you some drugs in the meantime.

Drifting by after reading Julie Cohen's first page challenge!

Grace & Kristen, thanks for the good wishes. I'm hoping surgery won't be needed as well. They did give me a perscription for pain meds but I didn't even have it filled. I don't like taking pills unless I absolutely have to and, while my shoulder hurts, it only hurts when I move it so I just avoid moving it and I'm okay.

It's feeling a little bit better after a week so let's hope this is the trend and it heals on its own.
